Easter Preparations

Easter's just around the corner, and things have been busy as we get ready for the Easter Bunny's first annual visit! Since Adalyn's new at this whole Easter thing, Mommy put together a handy checklist for our preparations:

1. Learn how to hop like a bunny.

Thank goodness we have the Jumperoo to help out (warning: high-pitched noises may exist in video as Mommy was trying to get Adalyn to laugh):

2. Prepare ourselves for big people food so that we can eat delicious noms on Easter. Cuz you can't spell Easter without E-A-T.
3. Make sure we look our best for Easter.

Well, I think we were able to cover 2 and 3 with one exploratory session:

"Ok, I'm done with breakfast, what else you got for me to eat 'round here?"

"Is this how I look to other people? Upside down?"

Adalyn's looking at a silly version of herself

That's not big people food! But it sure looks tasty...
4. Find out what a baby chicken looks like so that we can recognize one on Easter.

Since we're not on a farm, we found the closest thing to what a baby chicken might one day look like.

Adalyn wonders where the rest of the chicken went.

Again, this just proves that cats and babies are interested in the same things.
5. Figure out what this "grass" thing is all about.

Adalyn and Mommy kidnapped Daddy and took him to Hardin Field on base for lunch. It was Adalyn's first time in the grass.

Adalyn shows off her baby skullet. What's a skullet? It's a mullet, but it's all party in the back. It's the only hair she has left from when she was born.

This picture...teehee...makes me giggle...snert. (What a baby snert might look like.)

"I wonder if I can eat this...grass you call it? Looks tasty."

We had to sit in the shade to accommodate Vampire Baby. She really doesn't like the sun in her eyes.

Adalyn checks to see if her Vampire Baby fangs have come in yet.
6. Learn how to frolic in the sun. Yes, even Vampire Babies.

Adalyn tried to catch this sunbeam. Again, something she has in common with the cats.
7. Practice opening Easter Baskets.

Grandma sent us an Easter package full of new things, like sunglasses (to frolic in the sun with), candy (for baby caretakers who need lots of energy), clothes (for our Easter debut), and a bunny (so that we know what the Easter Bunny looks like).

Peeper, Ninja, and Adalyn inspect the Easter package full of goodies.

Now Vampire Baby can frolic in the sun. And look cool doing it.

The Easter Bunny stand-in checks out Adalyn's new look.

Grandma also sent a cat trap. Just place on the floor, and wait. Voila! A kitteh.

Turtle lip

"It's 50 cents for a smooch, 1 dollar for a whole snorgling."

"I'm sorry, I couldn't hear you over the sound of how awesome I am."

We don't need to see what a baby hopped (haha) up on candy looks like.

"Mom, everyone can see you kissing me! Gross!"

Sunglasses give babies very silly expressions.

Check, check, and check. It looks like we're all prepared for Easter tomorrow!

Bonus kitty pics:

There is no escape for Ninja.

Peeper is hiding under the baby mat, and of course, Ninja has to attack her.

Adalyn in 3D - Dinosaurs, Ducks, and Dresses!

WE INTERRUPT THIS POST TO BRING YOU A SPECIAL MESSAGE!

Adalyn got her Jumperoo yesterday and reports are in that she loves it! Let's go live to the scene where Adalyn is playing with her new toy:

"I'm having so much fun that I'm about to assplode!"

All of the bright colors are driving Adalyn CRAZY!

Adalyn's marking her new territory with drool

CAUTION: Mad scientist at play.

CORRECTION: Tiny mad scientist at play. Proceed with caution.
-----"We now bring you back to your regularly scheduled post."-----

Well, we've all had busy bertums here at Adalyn Central. We saw a rare behbeh dinosaur, we went to the Balloon Museum (no pictures since it was just Mommy and Adalyn), we fed ducks and geese with Daddy, and we acted like a lady in some fancy dresses.

"But dinosaurs are extinct!" you might say. Haha! Not true. They just hide themselves in plain sight, learning our culture and integrating themselves into our way of life. BEHOLD! The RARE...BEHBEH...DINOSAUR!!

In dinosaur language, ROAR means "hello," or with behbeh dinosaurs, "FEED ME!"

Behbeh dinosaurs have learned how to smile for cameras - you might even have a picture of them and not even know it!

"Food? Where?" ROAR!

The behbeh dinosaur forages for food in their natural habitat.

To draw a behbeh dinosaur: First, draw a cheek. Second, draw a nose. Add some eyelashes, and you're done. Some people speculate that Alfred Hitchcock was also a dinosaur.

What a full behbeh dinosaur may look like.

Behbeh dinosaurs have gone mostly undetected by smiling and looking really cute. It's hard to tell them apart from real behbehs.
WHEW! We were able to encounter a behbeh dinosaur with all of our appendages intact. Speaking of things that can also attack little appendages, we fed the ducks and geese at Tingley Beach. Actually, Daddy fed the ducks, and Adalyn and Mommy sat back on a bench and watched.

Adalyn looks like a Baby Bruce Willis

Did the geese get Adalyn's other foot!?!? OH NOES! (or is it OH TOES!)
Sometimes you've gotta have fun, and other times ya gotta class up the joint. So, Adalyn put on some fancy dresses and showed the world what a cute little lady she can be.

Adalyn shows off the "Le Tigre" bordering on "Blue Steel" look

Adalyn adjusts her skirt so that she is a proper lady...or at least tries to.

Okay, I can't take it anymore! I've got to snorgle this baby right away even if it messes up the dress!

Getting Our Big Girl Pants On (and Dresses Too)

Adalyn's getting her big girl pants on, and it's not just from the chubbitude. Adalyn can now roll over onto her tummy, roll onto her back, army crawl on the floor, push her chest up off of the floor, and sit up mostly unassisted, all while still ruling over her minions with a baby fist. Here are some pictures of our tummy time extraordinaire:

"This zebra looks tasty...I will make sure to drown it in drool before I eat it."

Adalyn's drunk with power

That baby is going to get somebody...I don't know who, but somebody.

RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! IT'S A...baby?

That spit bomb was just biding its time on her chin waiting for the perfect time to strike.

EXTREME BABY CLOSE UP!

OM NOM NOM NOM NOM

Playtime's not over until the zebra's been nommed and the place has been covered in drool...
It's exhausting wearing big girl pants all the time, so we decided to try on some other clothes, including our first dress!

...And happy everything else.

Great Grandma Ada picked out these cute shirts!

Even though it looks like a self portrait, I don't think she can operate the camera yet...or can she?

Gravity claiming another victim

"My arms runneth over..."

Adalyn's mouth is like a black hole...everything near it goes straight in.

"Don't look at the light!" "I can't help it, it's so beautiful..."
Even cute, tiny tyrants have to take a break from world domination and play sometimes.

Cats and babies seem to be interested in the same things.
